OUR TEAM

Meet the experts behind our ministry

Meet the folks who make it all happen. We see big potential in every moment, and care deeply about what we do.

All four instructors are founding members of the Northern Allegheny Mountain Bike Assoc.. This initial collaboration focused on creating enjoyable group rides for riders of all levels, while bringing MTB awareness and access to the Allegheny National Forest. This grew into organized group rides, trail maintenance, repair and reroutes, which eventually developed into trail design. All of the instructors have completed at least one International Mountain Bike Assoc. (IMBA) trail care crew seminar.

As instructors, all of the team has completed certification with the Bike Instructor Certification Program (BICP). Through the past few years, their skills have developed with experience as ride guides, school programs, outdoor festivals and youth camp. As a faith in the forest ministry, under the umbrella of The Chapel at Tidioute Creek, the entire team is obligated to complete all child clearances, basic CPR and first aid.

The members of Rock Solid are not doing this as a side gig, or to create a profession. They have committed and sacrificed on multiple occasions simply to bring the joy of riding to others. They also see the value in using mountain bikes as a vessel to teach important moral life lessons.

RON JAMESON

BICP Level 1 Instructor / Trail Boss

Ron's bike is almost always in the back of his truck ready for the next ride, and he has ridden almost everywhere. This vast trail knowledge, combined with a career in heavy equipment operation, has made Ron one of the most valuable volunteer trail  design and builders around. Ron also spent many years as a  highly regarded varsity softball coach, respected by both players and parents.  This ethical understanding of youth leadership has translated beautifully as a ride guide and instructor.

Pastor KEITH MARTIN

BICP Level 1 Instructor /  Program Manager

Seminary graduate, former owner of Down to Earth Landscape Construction, co-founding pastor of The Chapel at Tidioute Creek, previously coached basketball and track at both the jr. high and varsity levels, past BMX & CX MTB racer. Pastor Keith brings a little bit of everything to the table, but his job is to see the big picture, making sure every member of the team has what they need. As a pastor he is also the default motivational speaker for each event.

                  CATHY MARTIN

BICP Level 1 Instructor /     Lead Instructor

Cathy started out riding road, including a couple charity type distance events. Then she discovered mountain biking and fell in love with riding. Cathy has easily made the podium more times than any other member of the Rock Solid team, but that is not her real passion. As the parent of a special needs child, Cathy became acutely aware of the different ways in which people learn. This turned in to a career of working with special needs kids and young children. She has now combined this with her passion for fitness, working at a local whole health facility.  She also serves as the worship leader for her local church.

   BRAD WILCOX

BICP Level 1 Instructor / Chief Mechanic

Brad has an educational background and experience in construction, but has spent his entire life turning wrench in his spare time. The son of an auto mechanic, Brad was rebuilding and racing BMX from an early age. Young adulthood saw him turn towards motorcycles, until he finally came back to his roots and discovered mountain biking.  Years of building backyard BMX tracks, racing both BMX & MTB and a desire to see kids succeed has made Brad an incredible instructor.
